Beat Builder
Start with a simple beat. Every four right answers finish a bar, and you choose the sound that comes in next.
How to play Beat Builder
- Choose your maths: adding, subtracting, times tables, division or a mix, and the tables you want.
- You start with just a kick and a snare. Each right answer fills one beat of the bar.
- Four right answers complete the bar. Then you pick what joins your track: three drum patterns to choose from, then the bass, chords, melody, percussion and effects. Tap each one to hear it in your beat first.
- The game remembers which facts you find tricky and brings them back until they stick, without drilling the ones you already know.
- When all six parts are in, your track is finished. Play it back, remix it, save it on this device or download it as a WAV file.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a track take?
Twenty-four right answers build the full track, which usually takes 5 to 8 minutes.
Can I change my sounds afterwards?
Yes. On the results screen and in your studio you can swap any part, turn parts off, change the style or tempo and adjust the mix.
What happens when I get one wrong?
You see a way to work it out, often with a picture, and get a second try. The question comes back later in the round too, so you can lock it in. Wrong answers never take points away or remove parts of your track.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
It is completely free and there is no sign-up. Your progress and beats are saved only in your own browser.
